Roel Schuring to lead Benelux team for digital money market lending network
Zürich, 12 September 2018 - Instimatch Global, the new digital network for institutional money market lending, has opened an Amsterdam office, as part of its ongoing European expansion. Roel Schuring has been appointed to head the office, handling sales into Netherlands and Belgium.
Schuring has over 15 years experience in covering interest rate and money market products as a senior trader at ING Bank and previously ABN Amro, and as a senior salesperson servicing institutional clients at ING Bank Amsterdam. Schuring holds an MSc in Financial Economics from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a designation in Financial Risk Management (FRM).
Instimatch Global aims to change the way money market transactions take place by digitalizing traditional voice brokerage and by moving from local to global execution. Its cloud-based network connects borrowers with lenders within the huge unsecured money markets, providing more efficient access, better pricing and the ability to diversify counterparty risk. Institutional money markets have remained dominated by voice brokerage and relatively untouched by new solutions. With 50% of trading done bilaterally and 35% voice-broked, digitalized trading remains in its infancy across Europe.
Founded in 2016 in Switzerland, Instimatch Global's growing client base already extends internationally and includes bank treasuries, corporate treasuries, pension funds, insurance companies, asset managers, family offices and municipalities.
The Dutch market has some specific features which make Instimatch Global highly relevant. The Dutch institutional market is substantial with large insurers (more than €400 bn in assets under management) and is home to some of the biggest pension funds in the world (more than €1,300 bn AUM). On the corporate side, the trading and export nature of Netherlands economy requires active cash management with an unusually deep-rooted international mindset.
Daniel Sandmeier, CEO commented: "We're delighted to have opened in Amsterdam and to have such an experienced institutional sales leader as Roel to lead our efforts in the Benelux. Instimatch Global's plan was always to internationalise quickly, as making the nationally-siloed unsecured money market more international is at the heart of what we offer. Dutch money markets are highly sophisticated, but we are convinced we can offer greater efficiency, better pricing and enhanced counterparty risk diversification internationally. We are already active in Switzerland, Germany, and naturally assessing how to grow our business in the UK."
Roel Schuring comments: I've always taken a strong interest in the mechanics of financial markets and in applying new technologies - I could immediately see how compelling Instimatch Global could be to the various types of institutional accounts I had serviced over many years. The Netherlands is very open to technological innovation, so it is a natural next step for Instimatch Global to expand our business. In the coming weeks we'll be knocking on doors across the Benelux to start to build our business here, as part of our digital European money market network. We are straightforward to use in terms of onboarding etc, and we want firms in the money market to try us out."
Instimatch Global's Amsterdam office is based in the centre of Amsterdam at: Herengracht 282, 1016 BX, Amsterdam.
